Becky’s Fight, Your Support, and a New Beginning

🌼 The #HelpBeckySpeak Campaign Launch — and a New Chair Bringing Fresh Comfort

Yesterday was a huge day for Becky. After months of planning, creating, and hoping, we finally launched the #HelpBeckySpeak campaign — a global appeal to find the technology and expertise she needs to communicate more fully again.

We didn’t know what to expect. We hit “post” with shaky hands, hoping people would read her story, understand what she’s facing, and care enough to share it.

What happened next was overwhelming.

Within hours, your messages, comments, and shares began pouring in. Becky’s story mattered and was travelling better than we hoped. I read the messages aloud to Becky and her Mum. We cried — all three of us.

Not just because of what Becky has endured, but because of the compassion, kindness, and genuine hope reflected back at her from around the world. After everything she’s survived — the stroke, the coma, Locked-In Syndrome, infections, pain, endless setbacks — seeing that level of support reminded her that she isn’t fighting alone.

Thank you. Truly.

Whether you liked, shared, commented, or simply read her story — you made a difference.

You gave Becky a lift that no medication, no therapy, no machine in the world could provide.

🌼 A Small Victory: Becky’s New Chair

On top of the emotional rollercoaster of the campaign launch, Becky had something else to celebrate yesterday: her brand-new specialist chair.

It might just look like a piece of equipment… but for Becky, it’s a small piece of freedom.

A chance to sit more comfortably.

A chance to reduce her pain.

A chance to spend more time upright without the strain that normally exhausts her.

When she was lifted into it for the first time, she looked the most comfortable we have seen in ages.

Tiny wins matter — and this one felt like a good omen, arriving on the very day she asked the world for help to speak again.

You can see her in it here — tired, of course, but safe, supported, and a little bit more comfortable than the day before.

🌼 Why We Launched #HelpBeckySpeak

Becky communicates now by spelling out every word, letter by letter, listening and looking up to confirm the correct letter.

A single sentence can take minutes.

A conversation can take an hour.

It is exhausting.

For her. For the family. For everyone trying to help.

But her intelligence, humour, sharpness, and determination are completely intact.

She is still Becky — just locked behind a wall her body built without permission.

We launched this campaign because she deserves the chance to break through it.

And with the right technology, support, and expertise, we know she can.

🌼 What’s Next

We’ll be sharing:

• Becky’s progress

• Updates on potential technologies

• Ways people can help

• Behind-the-scenes glimpses into Becky’s daily reality — the hope and the hard bits

Please keep sharing the campaign, telling people about Becky, and checking in.

You are helping us reach the specialists, innovators, creators and problem-solvers who might hold the key to giving Becky back her voice.

🌼 Thank You — from Becky and from all of us

Your kindness reached her and your words lifted her. Your support is powering this campaign.

We won’t stop fighting for her voice.

And now — thanks to all of you — we don’t have to fight alone.
